The Delta on the water edge

Where the Po meets the Adriatic, the land frays into lagoons, canals and woods, and water still sets the rhythm of the days. The Po Delta has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 and is home to more than 300 bird species, both nesting and migrating. In the Valli di Comacchio, among the eels and the birds, pink flamingos live too. On this journey you explore it in the most natural way: aboard traditional boats, with expert guides, tasting the flavours born from the lagoon. You start from Comacchio, the "little Venice" of canals and bridges, then pass through the Sacca di Goro and the Gran Bosco della Mesola, all the way to Ferrara: the river accompanies you from one day to the next.

Day 1: Comacchio, among museums, canals and sunset over the Valli
We begin with a guided walk through Comacchio's historic centre, with entrance to its museums. The Museo Delta Antico is a journey through time that tells the history and archaeology of the area. The Manifattura dei Marinati is the old factory where you discover how marinated fish is made, a tradition of these waters. Lunch is free, so you can taste the town at your own pace. In the late afternoon we board a traditional wooden boat, reserved just for us, accompanied by an expert nature guide: we sail the Valli di Comacchio as the light grows softer. We end the day with an aperitif in the heart of the Valli.

Day 2: From the Po di Goro to the deer of the Gran Bosco della Mesola
In the morning we sail, on an exclusive trip, from the Po di Goro to the Sacca di Goro, a wide lagoon enclosed between two branches of the Po and open to the Adriatic. Its clam farms are the backbone of the local economy. In Goro we sit down to a traditional lunch made with local products. In the afternoon we board an electric minibus for a guided tour of about an hour and a half in the Gran Bosco della Mesola nature reserve: we follow exclusive routes, in an area usually closed to the public, and can meet up close the deer that live free in the reserve.

Day 3: Ferrara and its river
We transfer to Ferrara, to the Darsena San Paolo, where we board a boat that takes us from the city to the Po. The route helps you understand the river's strategic role in the birth and growth of Ferrara. Lunch and the afternoon are free, to stroll around the city at your own pace.
